CloseBot allows business plans and agency plans to select DeepSeek as an AI provider. Agency plans must add DeepSeek to their AI providers before adding it as an option for their any of their personas. Business plans don't have to put their key in. This guide covers getting your DeepSeek API key and saving it to your CloseBot AI providers list. For general AI provider information check out this article HERE.
Just because CloseBot allows use of DeepSeek, it does not mean other users' data is exposed to DeepSeek. Only those who have added this as a provider are allowing it to see their messages.
Adding DeepSeek API Key
From within the AI providers screen, click Add new provider and select DeepSeek. You'll be required to enter in a unique name for this provider as well as your DeepSeek API key that can be obtained from the DeepSeek platform HERE.
Access DeepSeek Developer Platform
Log in to your existing DeepSeek Developer Platform account or sign up to access API keys. This developer portal is different than the non-developer DeepSeek interface where you go to interact with DeepSeek as a normal user.
Make and Copy an API Key
Once you have your platform window open, navigate to API Keys in the side bar and click Create new API key. Click to create an API key, then choose an existing project or create a new one. You're able to paste this key in to CloseBot without setting up your billing in DeepSeek, but you'll have to set up billing before this key is usable within CloseBot personas.
Remember, DeepSeek will bill you for usage incurred, but CloseBot tracks the cost and allows you to re-bill this amount to your clients on our agency plan.
Billing Setup
On the same page as your API key, click Set up Billing on the bottom right of the screen. Connect to an existing billing account or set up a new one.
Make sure you remember to copy this key when you create it. It won't be shown to you again.
Rate Limits
DeepSeek does not rate limit users. It may go down at times (like all softwares), but they do not intentionally rate limit users even with high usage.
Next Steps
From here, you'll want to paste the DeepSeek key into the AI provider pop-up, give it a unique name and save it. Learn more about creating AI providers HERE.
Here are some things we've noticed about DeepSeek:
Likes to start messages with a short word like "Hi!", "Great", "Thanks"
Is more wordy than Gemini and OpenAI's models, but not the most wordy
Loves punctuation (periods, exclamation marks, commas) and overusing punctuation sometimes makes responses a bit awkward
