Learn how to modify the auto-open behavior of the chat widget

Overview

You'll get more engagement with your widget if you set auto-open behaviors found within the widget behavior settings. Here you can enable auto-open of either a preview message (your welcome message will display) or the fully opened widget depending on detected exit intent, time on page or scroll percentage.

Exit Intent

Exit intent looks for your site visitor moving their mouse toward the header of their browser. If detected and enabled, CloseBot will display the preview or open the chat.

Time on Page

This looks at the time the visitor has been on the current page. If over your set duration in seconds, CloseBot will display the preview or open the full chat based on your settings.

Scroll Percentage

This looks at the percentage scrolled of the current page. If the visitor has scrolled more than your set threshhold, CloseBot will display the preview or open the full chat based on your settings.

Preview Message vs. Open Chat

Choosing to open the full chat can be quite obstructing to the general site experience. This is why CloseBot has included the option for you to show a simple message preview instead of opening the full chat on behavior detection. In case of a preview being displayed, your welcome message is what will display to the visitor along with an audible ding if you have that enabled here.

Summary

The behavior settings here allow you to detect site visitor behavior and auto-open either a message preview or full chat to drive engagement with your CloseBot chat agents!
